Abbot Book Festival: May 11, 2024

The OWHL is excited to present the first Abbot Book Festival, funded partly through an Abbot Grant, on Saturday May 11, 2024, from 12-4PM.

Festival programming will focus on - the themes of two books: Nnedi Okorafor’s Binti, and Chanda Prescod-Weinstein’s The Disordered Cosmos.

All Phillips Academy Community members, including Abbot Alums, are invited to attend. The full schedule will be announced in early May, but some highlights from the program are below.

  • Food trucks
  • Faculty panel discussing a theme of the books
  • Storytelling by Theresa Okokon from Stories from the Stage
  • Spoken word performance from Tim Hall, poet and musician, co-founder of HipStory
  • Zine and button making
  • Student performances
  • Club appearances

Theresa Okokon is a writer, storyteller, co-host of 'Stories from the Stage' and a Pushcart Prize nominated essayist.

Nnedi Okorafor’s Binti

Tim Hall is a musician, performance poet, and Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music.
