Newspaper and Magazine Subscriptions

The Phillips Academy community can access several periodicals sources through the OWHL. Below are the steps to subscribe to The New York Times, Financial Times, The Economist, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Information on how to subscribe to each publication is listed under the tabs below. When subscribing to any of these publications, you will need to use your PA email address.

The OWHL provides additional access to a wide range of newspaper, magazine, and journal articles both in print and through our numerous database subscriptions. Our print subscriptions can be found in the OWHL Lobby and you can access a full list of databases here.

Subscribe to The New York Times:

  1. Note: You must be on campus WIFI to register for your subscription; however, you do not have to be on campus to use your subscription after you register.
  2. Click the "Read The New York Times" button below.
  3. Click "Create Account."
  4. Sign up for an account using your PA email address (i.e., [email protected]).
  5. Click "Login" and you are all set.

Note: You will need to reauthenticate your subscription every year. When you do this, you will need to be on campus WIFI.

Subscribe to the Financial Times:

  1. Note: You must be on campus WIFI to register for your subscription; however, you do not have to be on campus to use your subscription after you register.
  2. Click the "Read the Financial Times" button below.
  3. Click "Create Account."
  4. Sign up for an account using your PA email address (i.e., [email protected]).
  5. Click "Login" and you are all set.

Subscribe to The Economist:

  1. Click the "Read The Economist" button below.
  2. Fill out the form, making sure to use your PA email address.
  3. Click "Create account."
  4. Go to your @andover.edu email and open the email titled "You've been given an Economist subscription."
  5. Follow the link in the message to active your subscription and create a password.
  6. Log into The Economist with your PA email address and the password you created.

Subscribe to The Chronicle of Higher Education:

  1. Click the "Read The Chron. of Higher Ed." button below.
  2. From The Chronicle of Higher Education's homepage, click the “Sign In” link in the upper, right-hand corner of the page.
  3. Click on the "Sign Up" link next to the message "Don't have a Chronicle account?"
  4. Fill out the form, making sure to use your PA email address.
  5. Go to your @andover.edu email and open the email titled “The Chronicle: Confirm your email address” and click the confirmation link provided.
  6. Fill out the additional information in the Confirmation Form to update your profile. Note: The Confirmation Form asks users to enter their institution’s name. Phillips Academy is not listed (yet). Start typing “Phillips Academy” until it gives you the option to choose “Institution Not Listed.”
